Vance & Hines rider Steven Tokarski takes home a solid 9th place overall at the Monster Energy Cup held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. Having to sit out most of the summer to recover from injuries, Steven used the opportunity to compete in the A/B All-Star race as a measure of where his speed and fitness are at compared to the rest of the competition.
The day started off with three rounds of practice for Steven as he negotiated the technical supercross style track for the first time. The first two sessions were spent dialing in the bike for the perfect setup on the challenging track. In the third practice, Steven was able to set a solid lap time, which secured him 12th gate pick for the main event.
In Moto 1 of the main event, Steven was able to get a great jump and make it into the first corner fighting for the lead. After the dust settled, Steven rode out in 5th position and running away with the leaders. On lap 3, Steven miss-timed a rhythm section and slipped back to 7th spot, where he finished the moto.
As a result of his first moto finish, Steven elected to move his gate pick further inside for the final moto. Again Steven was able to get a good launch from the line and was at the front of the pack. Unfortunately in the first corner several riders came together and Steven was a casualty going down in the crash. He was able to remount and worked up to 13th place by the end of the race. With a combined score of 7-13, Steven finished the event in 9th place overall. Keep up with the latest news on the Vance & Hines MX Team at vanceandhines.com and facebook.com/vanceandhines.com.
