The third round of the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series is taking place this weekend , August 13-15 at Virginia International Raceway, one of the most beautiful circuits in America, set among the lush green hills of southern Virginia just above the North Carolina border.
The brand new spec class based on the Harley-Davidson XR1200 has produced some very close and exciting racing in the first two rounds at Road America and Mid-Ohio, with reigning Daytona Sportbike Champion, Danny Eslick taking the win at both races. He’ll be looking to keep his streak going this weekend at VIR, but his Richie Morris Racing teammate, Jake Holden, will definitely be pushing to make his way to the top step of the podium after scoring second and third place finishes in the opening rounds. But don’t count out any of the young guns like Eric Stump or Travis and Kyle Wyman who are eager to make a name for themselves in this debut season for the series.
The Vance & Hines XR1200 Series is aiming to become one of the most exciting new classes in AMA Pro Racing, and word about the series is spreading. This week at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, there are three race-prepped XR1200’s on display, one at Black Hills Harley-Davidson in Rapid City, another at J&P Cycles in downtown Sturgis, and a third at the Harley-Davidson display also in downtown Sturgis.
