The Vance & Hines Motocross Team took part in final round of Loretta Lynn Regional Qualification this past weekend at Competitive Edge MX Park in Hesperia, CA. The high desert track has played host to several area and regional qualifiers over the past few years and always provides a terrific track for competition.
On Friday the team made the short trip up to Comp Edge for the open practice session to get familiar with the new track layout. Being the last opportunity for qualification into the National Championship several of the top riders from the southwest were in attendance and the stage was set for some great racing.
Coming into the weekend, Preston Tilford came into this race with some unfinished business still needing to qualify for the 450 A class. On Saturday, Preston made a statement that he would be part of the conversation heading into the National Championships. In the 250 A class Preston utilized great starts and rode with blazing speed bring home 1st overall going 1-1-1 in the 3-moto format. Needing to finish 5th or better in the 450 A class to qualify, Tilford rode with the same intensity again dominating the 450 class taking home a 1-2-1 for 1st overall.
Having already qualified for both class a few weeks prior, Steven Tokarski elected to ride on Sunday in both classes as a tuned up for the Mammoth MX. Unfortunately during the morning practice session Steven lost the front end of his bike going through the whoop section and crashed. He was able to remount and finish the session. Back at the rig the decision was made to keep him off the bike to ensure no further injury.
Up next the team will head to the Mammoth Mountain MX, June 23rd– 26th. Keep up with all the action at vanceandhines.com and at facebook/vanceandhines.com.
