Team Report: Loretta Lynn’s Area Qualifier at Honey Lake MX Park

Vance & Hines Motocross Team riders Preston Tilford and Steven Tokarski both successfully qualified at their Loretta Lynn’s Area Qualifier at Honey Lake Motocross Park this past weekend with solid results in each of their motos.

With Honey Lake sitting at over 4,000 feet above sea level, the weekend got off to a slightly unusual start with snow flurries during Friday’s open practice sessions, but the all the motos on Saturday and Sunday enjoyed great sunny weather.

On Saturday, in 250 A Moto 1, Preston got a good start, slotting into third after the first corner, and then moving forward to commandingly take the win. Then in 450A Moto 1, Preston wholeshot the field and kept the lead all the way to the checkered flag. Then he repeated that performance getting the wholeshot again in the second motos for both 250A and 450A and taking the wins in both, for claiming first overall for both 250A and 450A for the event.

On Sunday, Preston maintained his streak taking another decisive win in the Open Pro Sport class. It was the best weekend of the year for Preston, taking wins in each of his six motos for the weeknd.

Despite fighting the flu all-weekend, Steven put in an equally valiant effort. In the 250B Modified class, Steven finished a strong second in both motos to take second overall for the weekend. In 450 B Modified, Steven put in another strong effort to take a third place in Moto 1. This result was enough to enable him to advance to the regional qualifiers. Steven also ran Moto 1 in the Collegboy class, recording another strong second place finish.

With these results, both Preston and Steven will be advancing to the next round of qualifiers for this summer’s Loretta Lynn’s MX championships. Next, the team is heading to Washougal Motocross Park for the Regional Loretta Lynn Qualifiers happening on Memorial Day weekend, May 28th & 29th. Keep up with all the action at and at
